Fitter Schools UK Challenge 2008
Ian Wright, Fit For Sport and Next Generation Clubs are inviting Primary and Secondary schools in the UK to take part in the 2nd annual Fitter Schools UK Challenge 2008. We have set an FREE annual Challenge for all schools to have the chance to win sports equipment or coaching services, helping engage children of all fitness and activity levels into exercise and encouraging children to live a healthy lifestyle. The 2007 Fitter Schools UK Challenge was a huge success, engaging nearly 3,000 schools across the UK, over 1 million school children and improved children’s fitness on average by 14.5%. More info...
How the Challenge will run?
The winning school(s) will be assessed by calculating a total score for every school based on 4 activities that test their fitness levels. These assessments are based on standard age appropriate activities and will be done twice, once at the start and once at the end of the Challenge. Schools will provide the Challenge with a total school score for both assessments and a total number of children taking part. Scores will automatically be entered into both Challenges, and many schools will be re-assessed by the Challenge team to ensure credibility of results. More info...
When it will run?
Invitations to enter will go out to schools on 14th Jan 2008.
The Challenge will run from January 2008 to May 2008, Schools have a period of up to 18 weeks to carry out the two assessments. The winning schools and the School Challenge Cup Final will take place in June 2008. There will also be a special road-show during April where Fit For Sport and Ian Wright will visit a number of schools across the UK to help drive this year’s Challenge, you may be lucky enough to be one of the chosen schools!
Results for both assessments will be sent in to the Challenge team. The assessment 1 deadline for submitting results is the 31st March 2008, the assessment 2 deadline for submission is the 6th June 2008. The results will be tabulated by the Fitter Schools Challenge team, who will then go out to many schools across the UK to re-assess results to ensure credibility for applications.

Upon receipt of your registration, you will receive an automatic unique password that will enable you to download your school's ‘Challenge Pack'. The Challenge Pack will outline this year’s activities, instructions on how to undertake the assessments, safety tips for the children, free lesson ideas to build children’s fitness during the Challenge and top tips to help them live a healthy lifestyle.
There will also be a special fundraising section this year that will help children across the country raise money to go towards the Challenge’s chosen charity for children.
